The Ukrainian Youth Association of Canada has run a summer Youth Camp at their Acton Site for over 60 years. The Association retained Eric Connolly Architect to design a replacement Camp Dining Hall / Kitchen Building. The building is also intended to provide for Multi-purpose programmes during the summer and off-season periods.
The Project necessitated a new Sanitary (Septic) system and Permits from the Conservation Authority and the Ministry of the Environment as well as a Building Permit. The Firm assisted the Client in obtaining a Trillium Grant to off-set some of the Building Cost.
The Building design utilizes wood frame construction with standard roof trusses over the Kitchen and Support Room Areas and scissor trusses, glulam post and beam construction over the Dining Hall portion.
